Gian – Germ Hunter!
Germ Hunter!
Have you ever wondered how many germs are in your house? Germs are a disgusting bacteria that can make you sick, have a fever, and can disrupt your time at school. So scientists developed an experiment called Germ Hunter to stop germs from spreading.
The first step is to gather materials. For example, cotton swabs, agar petri dishes, and importantly, bacteria you think is around your house. Like under the table, unwashed hands, washed hands, and the doorknob.
The second step is to place down four agar plates and rub the cotton swabs on those four places you picked. You can rub it onto the agar plates and cover it on the lid. Then, you could name it with anything, for example when you did unwashed hands, put unwashed hands on the plates to find the difference. After some weeks/days, it grows bacteria onto it making the experiment work.

Kamusta everybody! This story is gonna be about how we made a visual mihi. While we were reading books, Aina, a teacher came along and told us to get our chrome books. What we did first was make a google slide. Second, was we decorated it with a font and put our image in. Third, we put some images of what we like and what we do in life.
Here is mine!
About Me Poster
ABOUT ME POSTER
Kamusta! What i’m going to be writing about today is gonna be all about me and stuff about me.
Today, a teacher Aina came in and started telling us what we would need to do. Write an all about me google drawing. First off, what I did was make a greeting. What I did was Kamusta/hello. Second, I put an image of myself. Then, I was writing stuff and putting boxes of the stuff that I do and what my name was. After all of that, we added some images and some colors. Here is mine!

My Speech – Gian
My Speech
By Gian
Kamusta Edmund Hillary School! My name is Gian and today I am going to be talking about something you would always need to do. Be a kaitiaki to the whenua. What that means is being a kind student to the plants outside, and helping the land is being one of those. I have a question, Will you be a kaitiaki to the land, and stop pollution? What I believe is that all of us should help the land, to stop pollution and help the animals on this planet. The ocean is polluted, there are animals tangled in nets, and lots of other things that need to be stopped. We have potential to end this!
You can be a kaitiaki to the land by picking up things that are out of place, helping to clean the school, and not leaving rubbish on the field. The whenua is special to us students. It makes us have a good life, helps animals to live on it, and many other things. I absolutely want to help the whenua, especially in the places we live in.
If we look down on whenua, we would have a messy land, which is not good because we could get sick. So that is why we should be a kaitiaki and help the whenua we live in. The way we could be a kaitiaki is when you see a chip packet close to a bin. Maybe when something flies we have to pick it up, even though no one is looking. Be thoughtful and always pick up waste and put it in the bin.
By being kind to the whenua and being a kaitiaki, we could help lots of animals. so they don’t go extinct. Be thoughtful about living things that can be extinct one day. We need land. but without it, we would have no place to live in. It can help you and give you a place to live in. So, will you be a kaitiaki to the land that we live on? You need to take action and help all of us.Lets help the whenua, the land we live on. And stop pollution that’s killing animals. That is the main point of showing kaitiakitanga. Helping to stop pollution.
Matariki Digital Art – Gian
Kamusta bloggers!
Yesterday, we were learning about the Matariki stars and its origins. The Matariki is all about the nine stars that shine above the sky. It brings people together to celebrate and enjoy. My teacher Alicia gave us some work to do by making a Matariki artwork on google drive. She taught us tools and shapes that we would need to learn like stars, shapes, and the curve tool.
Stuff we needed to do to make the Matariki mountain and sky.
-
Duplicate items instead of making it again.
-
Fill tool, to fill in some colours.
-
Use the corner tools to shape the stars/mountains.
-
Make the stars out of shape and put them in place.
What I liked about this Matariki poster is about how it was fun to make and really simple. Here is my artwork! (I also copied some google images for the moon)
My Maths – Gian
Kamusta, bloggers! Welcome.
Today i’m gonna be blogging about what I did on my maths. This whole term, my teacher Alicia taught us about different strategies to Mathematics. Subtracting methods, addition methods, and even timing stuff! To get started, I went on my Chromebook and Alicia told us what to do. Once she was finished, we finally started on my work and started working on the Mathematics Alicia gave us.
Once we were finally finished, we added some extra details. I showed it to Alicia and we started on some extra work we have to do on paper. I started working on it and using the strategy Alicia gave.
When i was finished, I gave my work to Alicia and started working on my blog.
Inquiry) States of Matter: “Solids!”
States of Matter: Solids!
Kamusta, Welcome bloggers!
- Today we are learning about Solids. We read information about solids in a video and here is what I learned. What is a solid? A solid is a type of Matter which can be used in many things like wood, to build stuff, ice, to cool down drinks. These are proof that Solids are important in life.
2. There are 2 types of solids. Crystalline and amorphous. Crystalline has a repeating pattern while Amorphous solids, on the other hand, have a non-repeating arrangement. In easy words, Crystalline has a more neat pattern but amorphous is sort of messy.
3. These are some of the information I gathered up about all the States of matter! Solids. A hard matter which it can be broken with itself. Liquid. A type of matter. Ice is a great example. Ice is a solid but once melted, becomes liquid, which means sloppy and can be moved by anything. Make sure not to touch still water! It carries dangerous bacteria which can be life threatening. Gas. a invisible type of liquid that floats up in the air once it evaporates!
4. Here are some facts that me and my team made! Solid is a type of matter. Water can be in all forms of matter. Solid, Liquid, and even gas! Solids can have high melting points. A solid can be broken by another solid.

Sir Edmund Hillary – Gian
∴Sir Edmund Hillary
Today I read about Sir Edmund Hillary. He is famous for him being the first to climb the mountain with his buddy Sherpa Tenzing Norgay. What makes them super is that they achieved going to Mount Everest, they also never gave up. And, they achieved what other people almost never achieved in their life. Even though it was hard to go to the mountain they still did it.
They are super because when they climbed on the mountain they became famous and opened the school Edmund Hillary School (EHS). People were telling him that he can’t make it to the top and large avalanches ahead while they kept on going. Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, is a friend of his that helped him to Achieve climbing the mountain. He relates to my goal to keep trying and never give up. Once he was done, he opened a school and became famous all over the world. Edmund Hillary reached the summit of Mount Everest on May 29, 1953. He was part of a British team and was accompanied by Tenzing Norgay. This climb made them the first people known to have reached the summit of Everest.
What he used
Sir Edmund Hillary used a variety of tools, including Wood-handled Ice axes, Woollen suits, and outdated gear to climb Mount Everest in 1953. They also relied on a canvas kit bag containing essential items like sleeping bags, gloves, and an oxygen set. Enough for him to actually climb Mount Everest. In 1953.
Facts about Sir Edmund Hillary
- Hikers are often called “trampers” in New Zealand.
- Sir Edmund was 6 feet 5 inches tall.
- He was a navigator with the New Zealand Royal Air Force during WWII.
He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II after reaching the top of Everest. …- Mount Everest is 29,029 feet high.
Edmund Hillary makes me think about my goals, and how I can overcome my goals by never giving up on myself. With enough effort, I can achieve any goal I want to. He achieved his goal by never listening to those who didn’t believe in him. I can also achieve that by listening to good people and believe in myself so that I could achieve my goal.∴∃∀

Smart Fish – Gian
Kamusta, Welcome Bloggers!
Today, I will show you how to make your own fish like I did. Fish is an entertaining creature which are in many colours and types. Fishes can be also used as pets. With Aina, we were learning how to make a smart fish. How I did this, is using the tools in Google drawing. First, I opened up a Google drawing. Aina taught us how to make the fishes by using the shape tool at the top. We followed Aina’s steps following what he did. He is a Cyber smart teacher which helps kids learn how to do all sorts of things on the Chromebook.
We used all kinds of shapes and used the curve tool. We used the Chrome books shortcuts like (Ctrl V Copy and paste) (Ctrl D Copy stuff) (And use the other slide on top that allows you to group stuff.) I did the background by adding different layers doing bottom the darkest and making a gradient to light blue. We finished it off by adding decorations like bubbles, a story, sand castle, and more! Once we were finished, we showed it to Aina and continued with our old work.
If you wanted to do this, what kind of fish would you do? Follow the instructions, This is what I did. But before you comment, take a look on what I wrote of the story they came through.
Two fishes were swimming by looking for some food. “Look food!” the Blue Fish said. As they were swimming they got caught in one of the coral. But magically they both got sent free. When they got there, it was a beautiful place. With a fully built sand castle with a rock to lay on. Coral surrounded it with a hook with a worm to feed on. They both rested on the sand for a while while looking at the sunny morning above them. When they started swimming again, They swam closer and got scared by a person saying “I guess no Fish today.” Once they realised they swam away horrified as bubbles formed at the top. They soon found home and told their fish friends not to go there. (THE END)
Here are some fish facts.
- Fish are social and cooperative. … Of all the curiously uncommon gems Nevada has to offer, the Devils Hole pup fish is the rarest. In fact, it’s the rarest fish in the entire world—and it can only be found here in the Silver State. Although there are many different kinds of pup fish, Cyprinodon diabolis has dwindled to between 100-200 s pecimens.
- Fish feel pleasure, not just pain. …
- Fish have great memories. …
- Fish are smart and can learn. …
- Fish are flexible. …

- Fish are excellent communicators. …
- Fish can migrate extremely far distances.
